Balsamic Basil Vinaigrette – Serene Path

This Balsamic Basil Vinaigrette is a tangy, creamy and delicious addition to any salad! Fresh, aromatic basil leaves pair perfectly with deeply fragrant balsamic vinegar for the most irresistible vinaigrette. Just mix a few simple ingredients and drizzle it over your meal or save it for later!

I like to garnish a lot of my salads, especially this one Cucumber and beet saladwith this bold-tasting basil balsamic vinaigrette.

It goes very well with salads rich in healthy green vegetables or savory salads containing fruit. However, it is quite versatile and will pair wonderfully with any of your favorites!

Another idea is to drizzle it over sandwiches, paninis, wraps or as a sauce for vegetables because it is so thick and creamy.

This dressing is so easy to make with mostly kitchen staples, so you can avoid the trip to the store. An added benefit of making your own salad dressing from scratch is that you know exactly what ingredients are in it and can adjust the flavors to suit your preferences.

Simply combine olive oil, fresh basil leaves, garlic, balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, dijon, salt and pepper in the blender. Making it takes 5 minutes tops, but lasts for days in the fridge!

You actually don’t need to use a blender if you want a more textured dressing. Simply chop the garlic and basil by hand and whisk it all together or shake it together in a mason jar.

  • Oil – Use high quality extra virgin olive oil for a rich base.
  • Basil – Fresh, fragrant basil leaves give the best flavor and a gorgeous green color! Try to select large, dark green leaves.
  • Garlic – One clove of garlic is enough, unless you want to add more.
  • Balsamic vinegar – This dark, rich vinegar adds punch while enhancing all the flavors of the dressing.
  • Maple syrup – Maple syrup adds a rustic sweetness while helping to balance the other ingredients. Agave nectar can also work.
  • Dijon – Add a little dijon for spice. This ingredient also acts as an emulsifier to help the oil and vinegar mix.
  • seasoning – Sprinkle a little salt and pepper for added flavor.
